WHO AM I?

Hello citizens and welcome to my blog!

My name is Aurora, and I’m a geologist turned urban planner with a passion for sustainability, Smart Cities, and urban resilience. During my bachelor’s studies I discovered my deep interest in understanding how Earth’s natural processes affects cities. This curiosity, combined with a desire to create healthier, safer, and more sustainable cities, led me to pursue a master’s in urban planning at the University of Seoul in South Korea through a prestigious government scholarship.

During my time in Korea, I’ve witnessed the country’s advancements in technology, its commitment to research and development, and its dedication to environmental innovation. This experience has inspired me to act as a bridge between Asia and the Western world, sharing knowledge and fostering collaboration between companies and governments to tackle climate change and improve urban life globally.

You might wonder, why did I choose South Korea as the place to further my studies and career? The answer lies in the country’s unique position as a global leader in innovation. Korea invests heavily in research and development, boasts cutting-edge technology, and has a strong commitment to environmental sustainability. Living and studying here has given me unparalleled access to observe and learn from their approaches to urban planning and Smart City development.

South Korea’s urban landscape is a fascinating blend of history and modernity, where ancient traditions coexist with futuristic infrastructure. From the bustling streets of Seoul to the eco-friendly initiatives, the country offers endless inspiration for anyone passionate about sustainability and urban innovation.

My journey from studying geology to urban planning was driven by a pivotal realization: cities are not separate from nature; they are deeply intertwined. As a geologist, I studied the risks posed by natural phenomena like landslides and earthquakes. But I soon realized that instead of merely mitigating risks, I wanted to focus on designing cities that coexist with these natural processes. This shift in perspective brought me to urban planning, where I’ve been exploring how to create environments that are both resilient and enriching for their inhabitants.

My Vision

I believe cities of the future should be built in harmony with natural phenomena, turning challenges into opportunities. I imagine urban spaces where residents interact seamlessly with nature, becoming “smart citizens” who harness technology to empower their communities, not be dominated by it.

Through this blog, I aim to create a space for dialogue, creativity, and the exchange of ideas on sustainability and urbanism. Let’s work together to reimagine the cities of tomorrow.

My ultimate goal is to inspire others to think differently about the cities we live in.
